Riding in a June Full of Blooms

The last few days have been lovely early summer days here. Mostly sunny with highs in the 70Fs.

As a result riding has been especially pleasant. I’ve been enjoying the low early morning sun and sparkling waves from sun rays on the lakes.

Flowers, including primrose, rose and wild flowers are now brilliantly blooming along the paths and trails.

The singing continues with new to me songs to bolster my cardiovascular system (CVS) by singing songs on the wheel. I’ve reached back into Hysteria.

With summer break approaching, I am planning trips for each month of the summer. In June we plan to be in Minneapolis for a few days. In July we plan to visit Milwaukee. Finally in August we are planning a trip to northern lower Michigan. We are taking our bicycles of course.

Bike week here has been amazing so far. Today I counted three hospitality tents on my ride. The largest one was offering free bacon to the ride. On the way back at least 20 bicyclists were partaking.

I was disappointed in one bicyclist yesterday on the Capital City Trail. I was riding through the intersection to make a left turn when he approached from the left.

He needed to go straight or signal a right turn with his hand. I was waiting in order to decide how to proceed. He turned right without a signal. His intentions were very unclear. We need to always consider other cyclists and follow the rules for mutual safety out there.

I’ve been more consistent with my riding and commuting the last few months since I accepted a new position requiring a longer commute.
