It’s been an especially lovely road on a bicycle this month. It’s the time of year when one wants to get out as much as possible to enjoy the fleeting days of autumnal bliss.
Leaves are now just past their peak in color here and are falling from their branches twirling to the ground in increasing numbers where they scrape the cement in a whirlwind like finger nails on a blackboard.
The two pages below are from my September bicycling report produced with Strava. The first shows total hours riding per month. The second shows total days, total distance and elevation.
Two months ago I added another goal to my workout – 300 miles riding per month. This is actually less than my year goal of 4000 miles but more reachable. That being said, I reached the goal for September with 500 kilometers or 310 miles. My sports app has metric capability, so I like to use it.
My ride to work on a cool and crisp September 30 morning. The field I ride along side was covered in early morning fog. I had a minute to take the photo and it seemed like the fog started to disappear as I rode into the field to take the photo. You can see the fog if you look just above the grass on the horizon.
I ride over this bridge with no name to work and home. It’s truly lovely year-round but especially in autumnal bliss. Looking out from the bridge one sees the Yahara River which empties into Lake Monona. Just past the far bridge in this photo, there is a ford where the fairly calm current of the Yahara crashes into Lake Monona’s current of small whitecaps.
