Ringing in Euphoric May on the Wheel

With euphoria we sense more intuitively our surroundings whether we’re riding our bicycles or walking on picturesque paths or anywhere. Lilacs smell more aromatic and look especially lovely. The foliage blooms brighter each day. In a word heightened senses.

On my rides this week especially I have been experiencing the wonder and joy of euphoria. It has much to do with the immense contrast of additional bright sunlight after long dark winter days on the wheel.

Dark Winter’s Day

This week was the first week of National Bike Month. I feel on the wheel  the camaraderie and excitement of the celebration. Camaraderie includes greeting with more cheer and vigor fellow cyclists where we see them.

Excitement includes the massive synergy of riders coming together to start their cycling seasons. Bike racks are filling up outside of places of employment and elsewhere.

I’ve been stretching out each day before I commute in the early morning. It’s only 10-15 minutes and my regimen calls for back, shoulder, leg exercises and of course sit-ups. I’m losing weight too!

This morning was a true blessing on the wheel as I spun lightly along Monona Bay. It was mostly sunny and mild. Very still and quiet. The sun was rising brightly over Monona Bay and Madison’s Isthmus. The water was clear like a mirror in places and sparkling effervescently.

Monona Bay and Isthmus

Very recently I’ve started listening to JS Bach’s music just before I head out on my commute. I’ve been singing along. It’s good for the cardiovascular system  especially when exercising and riding on the wheel.
