Collaborating with Bicycle Professionals for More Safe and Successful Events

Clouds With Mist Over Lake Monona

Early Friday morning I was met with magical mist and unbelievably beautiful cloud cover as I rode to my intersection. This past week morning temps here had been in the 40sF and 50sF or seasonably mild for early-mid September before most recently warming to the low 60s.

Jordon Love Riding Small Children’s Bicycle

Pictures of Jordan Love and other Packers players riding significantly undersized bicycles have been a cause for deep concern.

The Packers event coordinator absolutely should have worked with professionals at famous Wisconsin bicycle company Trek, e.g., to fit event participants to appropriately sized bicycles.

As some know riding a bicycle that is too small for the rider or property fit can lead to serious injuries. Certainly not something for our franchise quarterback.

I was a victim of some rotten luck on Wednesday after making a turn on a bicycle path. As you can see from the above photo, this is no common corner.

The right side and riding side of the path has no Safeway as there are garden terraces all along the turn and overgrown plants on the other terrace between the utility path and road.

Similar paths like the sidewalk above (see upper left-hand corner of above photo) have mirrors or signage attached to poles or walls respectively so that riders from both directions can see what is coming around the corner and prepare appropriately for potential danger.
