On Monday on my way to my place of residence, I was queuing for a pedestrian light at a busy four-way stop (below).

I wasn’t just queuing as I was carefully surveying the intersection, cars and other lights around me.
A major concern was the “right hook” to my left where cars illegally make right turns on red and can hit other users who aren’t being vigilant leaving the curb onto the crosswalk.

But for the first time at this intersection I witnessed a racing driver speeding through a yellow light that went red long ago and raced through the intersection as users and me were entering the crosswalk.
If we hadn’t turned back on our green light, we would have been hit. Please be vigilant and check not only your whole intersection, including your light, before entering the crosswalk, but also and especially all cars to make sure they are all stopped.
A rider here was killed not long ago because he failed to confirm cars were safely stopped before he entered the crosswalk.

I’m doing well on reaching and surpassing goals plus being well ahead of my yearly goal. The catalyst has really been changing my commute from four 1-mile legs to four 5-mile legs 100 miles per five-day week. Pulling a trailer on a “tank”of an aluminum bicycle during the week, I enjoy resting and using walking muscles on weekends.

We’re planning a bucket-list-ride to The Netherlands hopefully this summer for a month. I acquired a bike bag like a garment back to take my road bike. As you may know, the cities and sights are so close together and hence easy to ride to. Plan your own trip on de fiets at nederlandfietsland.nl.
