Not riding, arthritis and joint and muscle pain doesn’t get any better. Quality of life doesn’t increase when refraining from riding a bicycle.

Since I was diagnosed with pro-sciatic arthritis approximately two years ago, my bicycling life has significantly changed. Foremost, I have learned that I need to ride or walk through the pain before it disappears.
Giving up riding or longer distance walking would have been a mistake because the high aerobic modes create the feel-good chemicals that temporarily heal the body from the aching and deep burning of pro-sciatic arthritis.

Each week I will share a coveted rule from the famous and esteemed velominati with my comment of personal experience. Today’s rule is Keep It Up.
Some may know and understand that starting a commute is a major undertaking keeping it up uber consistently for over 20 years is even more daunting.

After returning from Europe, when I started this streak, I befriended a managing partner in a major regional law firm who also rode to work.
He brought me under his wing and let me have access to the firm’s changing closet. I am still grateful but working independently in plein air now with my commute in tow of course.
