This past week has seen unprecedented bitter cold and winds as we navigate to our places of employment and other commitments we have made.
I had the day off on Friday due to -12 F and -37 F windchill. I took advantage and rested on my feet most of the day cleaning my workspace where I maintain my bicycles.
This morning I decided to drive my hybrid for the morning commitment. Mentally I just felt to pressured to keep it up regarding the winter ride in all the bitter cold.

Biofeedback was happy with my decision which was based largely on my feeling but also having achieved my monthly goal for January of over 500 miles already for the month.
I would suggest that anyone consider their biofeedback and feelings about the upcoming ride and if they are not ok then make alternate arrangements if one can. In my mind no one should have to ride.
I’ll be hungrier for my ride and back out for the afternoon commitment having rested this morning.
I’ve noticed it has taken me longer to get ready in the morning with the addition of layers of clothing and even hand warmers in gloves and in socks.
I have to wake up earlier and be more efficient with my early morning filling the water bottle, attaching the burley trailer, ABCDs and inter alia.

I’m very blessed, grateful and honoured to be residing in a residential building on a major bicycle thoroughfare to East Towne Mall retail area.
It’s a relatively new and lovely commute in the place of a horrendous and dangerous bicycle lane on a major thoroughfare where a number of cyclists have been killed a block or two over.

The new ride has a new bicycle boulevard on it and easy, safe connections on scenic path or picturesque quiet residential streets all the way along to a major path.
An intersection of this route was immensely improved in the last year with a bicycle-friendly crosswalk that I was involved in on the planning and execution that leads to a fork where one can go to Hy-Vee for example or on through a park to East Towne.

I’ve taken this route to the gym on occasion. However, I use it more for errands and shopping now.

Just recently I rode an errand to the office supplies store. I also ride errands to a hardware store and a men’s department store as well as Hy-Vee for fresh baton, seafood and liquor in the panniers.
