
Value of errand riding. More than 50 percent of car trips occur within 2 miles. Riding a bicycle or walking instead of driving short distances like this saves not only fuel but also reduces deadly emissions in our towns as well reducing traffic and congestion. It makes our towns much more pleasant.

Riding on my early morning commute watching the morning twilight, I was reminded how important it is to break up the monotony of the ride or commute. Changing routes adds to our impressions and makes our senses more vibrant.

Commuting and riding errands on a bicycle every weekday, I have learned to value more my hybrid vehicle. I drive sparingly only for groceries once per week and an occasional trip out of town. Driving approximately 4500 miles per year has saved on wear and tear, insurance, maintenance and fuel costs.
