I woke at 315 on Tuesday morning like most mornings lately and decided to start my day with a sunrise ride.
I checked the weather app for the sunrise at 5:18 AM and planned the early part of my day. Of course I fuelled up with two large iced ristrettos while I powered up the USB batteries for my Blackburn light set front and back.
Conditions were absolutely ideal with temps in the mid 50s and winds calm.
I rolled out at 5:02 AM and headed east into the beautiful pre-dawn twilight. Purple and pink skies with seemingly dark clouds.

I ended up completing my first loop here on the East Side of Madison when I fortuitously found Sherman Avenue on the way back for a fair loop.

Loops are especially nice because there is no need to repeat the same terrain and you also add more miles while seeing different places versus out-and-backs where you ride to a point and turn around and return on the exact same route.

The takeaway was that it was wonderfully calm like the winds today and tranquil peace without the many and certainly worth the early rise.
