I started my ride today like I usually do by riding a short loop through the neighboring park and back to Tenney Park where I picked up the Yahara River Parkway Trail to the Bicycle Boulevard and downtown.
I have more positive energy with the official beginning of bicycle season, including the League of American Bicyclists five-month challenge.
That being said, I pushed for a new season-high of 60 km but made just over half 33 km as I slowed for photo opportunities.
I headed out to the Lake Loop but I had to forgo this ride due to construction. I decided to head back to Atwood and photo the new to me infra.
The wavy two-lane downhill turn onto Atwood was awesome and a complete as I hadn’t ridden this in a couple of years.
On Atwood I was amazed that one lane of traffic and a sidewalk were now a two-lane bicycle lane and a single-lane for pedestrians. Don’t think you don’t have room for bike lanes. It’s entirely possible with will of planners and local politicians. Advocates can help expedite the work.
Yesterday I also pulled the trigger on a Saris Guardian bike rack to haul my bicycles wherever I might like to go this summer. Multi-mobility with the hybrid Prius and bicycles open up more trails and rides throughout the region and beyond.
